  13. Yikes! I’ve only just now discovered this, with a mere 54 minutes to go until the 1st!

I’ll email a pdf of my recently published nonfiction book Bogus Science to anyone who contacts me via the e-address on my website on the 1st with a request for it.

The Skulls in the Stars blog reviewed the book thus:

The book is very good; as a first statement I can highly recommend it. [. . .] filled with wonderful wry and biting humor [. . .] exhaustively researched, and contains many stories and anecdotes that even a long-time observer of woo such as myself has not heard of [. . .] Grant’s Bogus Science is a wonderfully entertaining and informative book about the insane beliefs of fringe groups. [. . .]

  14. I just heard about this project through bookishgal; I hope it’s not too late to throw my hat in the ring!

I’ve got two short story collections–“Pieces” and “Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny”–available as free PDF downloads at http://michael.cartwheelmedia.com/wpm/pieces/.

“Pieces” is in the American realist tradition for the most part; “Ontogeny” is more in a fabulist mode. Most of the stories have been published in small magazines and on-line journals, but are difficult to track down outside these two collections.

  16. Thank you all!

A brief note regarding people contact by e-mail for a pdf. This is great but note – if someone contacts you by e-mail for a pdf, that DOES NOT constitute giving permission to be on a mail list. by all means ask if they’d like you yo put them on a maillist but I’d hate for people to get unsolicited mail as a result of Free-e-day.

  22. Theyre right on top of us, and Savous and Hyle are both on the surface. Another, smaller, band of rogues was being watched in a different part of the city. Gala chuckled softly. Tykir and Brevin stepped aside, and Lanthan sank onto the couch with her. Past Radins shoulder, she spied her parents watching closely, concern utmost on their faces. He grinned when she turned to extend a hand to help him up. Suddenly shy, Eyrhaen stared at the crimson and midnight pattern in the rug. Hyle was there, kneeling beside her. That wouldnt help alleviate her guilt, nor would it open the way to forgiveness. She had that under tight control. Youre not used to all this atonement. Ive gotten better at controlling it. She saw Brevin give Tykir a withering look. His body shook, his thrusts gone ragged. She wiggled, and he stopped. Then he lowered her onto Brevins chest. You may be different, but you most certainly belong. It wasnt real, you know. Tears spilled from the eyes she closed. I havent the time nor the inclination to come up with a spell just now.
